Getting Page Flip to work on Kindles was a little trickier, considering the differences in displays, refresh rates and touch sensitivity. Even better, page previews - be they big or packed into the grid - change on the fly when you fiddle with your margin, line spacing and typeface settings. If that doesn't get you skimming through prose fast enough, there's also a grid view option that shows off even more pages at once. While you flick through the pages, a little window remains in the corner of the screen - that's the page you just came from, and one tap brings you back to where you left off. If you're using the Kindle app on a tablet or phone, tapping on a page gives you a zoomed-out view of that page, along with a progress bar along the bottom to mark your place in the book. Page Flip, in short, is basically the digital equivalent of sticking your thumb between two pages and scouting through the rest of a book looking for the juicy bits. The feature is called Page Flip, and it's coming to Amazon's Kindle app for iOS and Android, along with certain Kindle readers and Fire tablets by way of an automatic, over-the-air update. While you'll never get the same sensory experience using a Kindle, Amazon at least tried to make it easier to skim through digital books, and you'll get your chance to try it for yourself today. As useful (and as crazy thin) as e-readers can be, there's something terribly satisfying about thumbing through a sheaf of processed plant matter with words on it.

9/3/2023 0 Comments Crack german tank forceWaters and Drake could do just to hang on until help arrived that is, if it ever did. The Battle of Sidi Bou Zid was the opening clash by Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel’s German-Italian Panzer Army against Maj. The 900 American troops holding this hill, as well the 1,700 men under Colonel Thomas Drake at Djebel Ksaira, would soon find themselves overrun by the German panzer spearheads. John Waters, the executive officer of the 1st U.S. ![]() The American forces defending Djebel Lessouda consisted of the 2nd Battalion/168th Infantry Regiment of the 34th Infantry Division, a company of tanks, and a platoon of tank destroyers. The other two battle groups moved south to envelop Sidi bou Zid. One of these moved around Djebel Lessouda its mission was to knock out American artillery and encircle the hill. When more American tanks advanced in a vain effort to stem the panzer onslaught, the crack German panzer troops destroyed six more American tanks.Ī few miles further, von Broich’s column split into three Kampfgruppen, or battle groups. The panzer troops took the crews of 10 American tanks by surprise while they were cooking their breakfast and knocked out six tanks in short order. The panzers in the vanguard overran a squad of American troops a few miles west of Faid so fast that the Americans had no opportunity to use their radio or even fire a signal rocket as a warning. The vanguard of the 10th Panzer Division sped past the village of Faid and continued westward. American forces holding Sidi bou Zid remained unaware of the German forces bearing down on them. Meanwhile, Colonel Hans Georg Hildebrandt’s 21st Panzer Division debouched from the Mazil Pass bound for Djebel Ksaira, 10 miles south of Djebel Lessouda. Generalmajor Friedrich Freiherr von Broich’s 10th Panzer headed for Djebel Lessouda. ![]() Just as the sun hazily began to rise above the mountains, the tanks and vehicles of the 10th Panzer Division rolled out onto the flatland. From there Rommel’s panzers would head toward the Kasserine Pass. Between the two hills ran Highway 13 from Faid to Sebeitla. The first objective of his two powerful panzer columns was to strike at a pair of prominent hills, known locally as djebels, 10 miles apart that bracketed the strategic crossroads of Sidi bou Zid. More than 100 tanks and halftracks and trucks packed with infantry rumbled through the Faid Pass in the Eastern Dorsal of the Atlas Mountains. Ignoring the swirling sands stirred up by the fierce winds of the Sahara Desert in the early morning hours of February 14, 1943, Generalleutnant Heinz Ziegler ordered his panzer columns forward to attack the American forces deployed in central Tunisia. 9/3/2023 0 Comments Indoor security camera![]() You've only got today to snap up this bargain otherwise when the day ends, the air fryer shoots back up to its regular price of $45. By contrast, today’s elite social script favors narrow ambition, risk aversion, and pre-programmed career choices. Yale’s best, brightest, and most well-connected students graduating from Bones were funneled into pipelines to work in the CIA and the State Department, institutions that valued intense loyalty, brotherhood, and hierarchy-virtues which Bonesmen shared in abundance.īut institutions only last as long as their members’ ability to achieve cultural succession. It is no surprise, then, that public service was such a common career path for Bonesmen. This culture taught enterprising students to value tradition, hierarchy, and institutions with missions greater than the ambitions of any one individual. In the mid-century, elites followed a social script defined by a sense of American destiny underpinned in part by patronage networks at Yale and elsewhere. The rest burned in a fire decades ago and have not been restored. So we'll see how that goes.As is, Deerclops seems too easy to cheese due to him not despawning upon the player's death. And if I do say so myself, not bad for my first time fighting a Don't Starve boss!Īnyway, then Spring started and a Moose/Goose immediately laid an egg in the middle of our base. It was genuinely one of the most exciting and fulfilling experiences I've had playing a video game, especially co-op. Bernie seemed to make the shadow monsters vulnerable to Wigfrid too (who was at full health/sanity from defeating the Deerclops), so they were dealt with by the time Willow had restored her health and sanity. I made it in the knick of time, barely clinging to life as Bernie roared to life and distracted the shadows long enough for Willow to begin chomping down all the finally finished large jerky on the drying racks. Unable to pull up my map, I had to rely on following my husband/Wigfrid there without letting myself get caught by the increasing number of Terrorbeaks. My husband pointed out that Bernie could save me, not realizing I had foolishly left the fella at base camp. ![]() I began just running in an endless circle being chased by an increasing number of Terrorbeaks, having accepted my fate. Only now Willow was completely armorless, fully insane, and at almost zero health. The Deerclops managed to plow through all four of my/Willow's armor pieces and reduce me to almost no health, but just after that my husband/Wigfrid landed the finishing blow and we both cheered. I tried to kite, but not knowing the exact animation pattern of the Deerclops made it difficult to do consistently. It was my first real boss battle so I definitely struggled, especially with the limited healing/sanity restoring items. We managed to make it to a nearby Pig Village just before Deerclops spawned, which was a really fun backdrop for the battle with the pigs occasionally running in to join the fight. In my panic, I also left Bernie behind. But we were still armed with two battle helms and log suits each, as well as a battle spear for Wigfrid and a Ham Bat for Willow. I also didn't do an excellent job maintaining Willow's hunger, so I was basically starving when the first Deerclops warning came and we had to run away from base camp. I was supposed to be in charge of sanity/health restoring food, but I only managed to prepare about 6 Pierogis and 10 small jerkies in total before Deerclops spawned, with 5 large jerkies still in the process of drying. My husband was particularly excited to fight the Deerclops as Wigfrid, since he had mostly won the battle in the past by relying Webber's spider army. The strategy worked pretty well and matched both of our play styles, so we made it into late winter pretty handily and began preparing to take on the Deerclops. I really liked focusing on the base, so I/Willow set up the rabbit traps, crock pots, and drying racks while my husband/Wigfrid went out gathering resources to bring back. I played as Willow and he played as Wigfrid (because we ship them lol). We created a pretty standard survival world. After playing for a bit on my own, I was finally confident enough to play alongside him in a shared DST world. ![]() So for reference, my husband started playing Don't Starve/Don't Starve Together a little over a year ago and finally got me into it this past December. 9/3/2023 0 Comments Keynote 590Results of Phase 3 KEYNOTE-590 Trial to be Submitted to Global Regulatory Authorities There was statistically significant improvement in outcome in the CPS 10 and greater population as well as all comers.KEYTRUDA Is First Anti-PD-1 Therapy in Combination With Chemotherapy to Show Superior Survival Benefit as First-Line Treatment for Patients With Esophageal Cancer Regardless of Histology This study demonstrated an improvement in overall survival from 8 to 9 months to about 13 months.
